Asymptotic simplification for solutions of the nonlinear wave equation
Abstract: We will discuss recent work with Duyckaerts and Merle, which shows a "simplification" in the asymptotic behavior of all solutions to the energy critical wave equation which are bounded in the energy norm, for all odd space dimensions. This depends on a careful study of "outer radiation" for the long time interaction of decoupled stationary solutions, which appears to be a general phenomenon in non-integrable settings.
