Job Description:  

The Department of Mathematics’ work-study will be expected to assist the Computer Systems Administrator and Information Systems Analyst with a variety of IT services and general administrative tasks in support of the department.  Main duties will include departmental web editing content, application of web editing best practices, conduct exhaustive reviews of existing web content to comply with accessibility,  resolve identified accessibility web content violations, web content maintenance, data entry and compilation, business technical support, general support on special projects or a combination of these and / or other IT functions. Due to the sensitive nature of student services work, the work-study will also be required to complete a FERPA training and expected to handle student records in a discreet and professional manner.

Qualifications: 

The desired work-study possesses basic knowledge relating to web design and HTML structure. Basic knowledge of computer security best practices and related campus policies.  Ability to write technical documentation in a clear and concise manner.  Strong attention to detail and high quality and accuracy of work.  Ability to elicit and communicate technical and non-technical information in a clear and concise manner.  Have a positive attitude and interpersonal skills sufficient to work with both technical and non-technical personnel at various levels in the organization.  Ability to maintain, understand and follow data confidentiality procedures.  Must have reliable attendance and possess the ability to complete tasks independently with limited guidance.  Must be able to occasionally lift 50 pounds, with or without assistance.  Work up to 20 hours a week during the academic semester and 40 hours during summer. 

Due to policies on privacy, students who are majoring in Math or Applied Math will not be considered for the position. 

Technical Skills:

Working knowledge of basic computer skills, basic knowledge of HTML styles, such as Headings, Paragraph Text, Tables, and Lists.  Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel, and Adobe Acrobat.
