Math 32 - Precalculus -- [4 units]

Course Format: Three hours of lecture, two hours of discussion per week.

Prerequisites: Three years of high school mathematics, plus satisfactory score on one of the following: CEEB MAT test, math SAT, or UC/CSU diagnostic examination.

Description: Algebraic operations, real numbers, rectangular coordinates, graphs, equations and inequalities, functions, polynomials, rational functions, exponential and logarithmic functions, trigonometric functions, trigonometric identities, linear systems of equations, roots of polynomial equations.

Chapter 5: Exponential and logarithmic functions 5 hours
Chapter 6-7: Trigonometric functions 7 hours
Chapter 8: Analytical trigonometry 3 hours
Sections 10.1, 10.2, 10.6: Systems of equations 2 hours
Chapter 12: Roots of polynomials (Sections 12.1 – 12.6 only) 3 hours
