Yelena Mandelshtam

I am a second year graduate student at UC Berkeley. My advisor is Bernd Sturmfels. I graduated with a B.S. in mathematics with honors and a minor in computer science from Stanford University in 2019. My honors thesis advisor was Andras Vasy. During the summer of 2020 I was an advisor at the University of Minnesota Duluth Mathematics REU program. I am spending Fall 2020 in Leipzig, Germany at the Max Planck Institute for Mathematics in the Sciences.

I am currently interested in tropical geometry and algebraic statistics.

I am grateful for the support of an NSF Graduate Research Fellowship and a department fellowship funded by the Straus Graduate Student Support Fund.
