Here you have a short file 2forms.tex, that
you should process using pdflatex which loads two graphic files homotopy-1.pdf and nonhomotopic-1.pdf. The result is 2forms.pdf
The smallest installations of some TeX distributions will have few
fonts. In addition to Computern Modern fonts (default fonts designed by
Professor Donald Knuth; they are too light and hard to read online),
every TeX installation nowadays should include a number of high quality
Type 1 fonts from URW: Avantgarde, Bookman, Helvetica, Palatino, Times
Roman, Zapf Chanclery, etc. Except for Palatino and Times Roman, few
have matching Math fonts, and the latter may not form part of the
smallest installations, so you may need to install them separately.
Read more about font packages on pages 61-64 of the Frequently
Asked Questions maintained by the UK TeX User Group, and here.
The Monotype Times Roman Text+Math fonts are available in the mathptx package that is a part of a
very important font package psnfss
which is installed even in the smallest MiKTeX installation.
On MiKTeX:
open package manager to find out which packages are available, when the
most recent version of each package was uploaded to CTAN (Comprehensive
TeX Archive Network), whether it is installed in your system, and
finally giving a one line description of most packages -- very useful!
use the package manager
to add new, or update already installed packages,
or allow MiKTeX to do this
automatically when MiKTeX detects that some package needed to
process some files are missing, and
you are connected to the internet when this happens.
As a minimum, you should have mathpazo,
fourier (you
will need to install: also Adobe's utopia), mathdesign,
and
eulervm font
support package.
You should also install a number of Bitstream's charter,
