Certain pages (those beginning with <tt>Protected:</tt>) are only viewable by logged in users, so that the content remains within the Berkeley math community. Most pages can be edited by anyone who's logged in, and anyone can create an account. Feel free to add whatever you think might be of interest to the graduate student community.
In order to edit any pages, you have to be logged in. This is to assure that only members of the Berkeley math department, and those that wish to benefit it, can alter the content of the pages.

Certain special pages (those that start with the 'Protected:' prefix) are only viewable by logged in users, so that the content remains within the Berkeley math community. These include the Job pages and the Housing listings.

===Making a new wiki page===

To create a new wiki page, simply edit the URL of this page, by replacing the words 'Main_Page' with 'your page name'. Spaces in the URL should be replaced with '_'. For example, /~mgsa/w/index.php/Boring_Example. Then just edit that page as you see fit: you can simply enter the text of your page, or you can make a more elaborate page if you know a bit of wiki markup. Look at the edit pages of some of the other wiki pages to get an idea for the special commands for getting things like section headings or italics. Please only use the characters A-Z a-z 0-9 . _ \ / ~ % - + & : ? ! = ( ) @ unless you know the special wiki uses of other characters, such as ] or *. These special characters might cause unexpected results.

And it's always smart to preview your post to make sure it displays the way you want it to.

Welcome to the UC Berkeley math graduate student wiki. We hope to provide information of use to you during your years as a graduate student at Berkeley.

Certain pages (those beginning with Protected:) are only viewable by logged in users, so that the content remains within the Berkeley math community. Most pages can be edited by anyone who's logged in, and anyone can create an account. Feel free to add whatever you think might be of interest to the graduate student community.
