Awards in the Fall'04 Tehiyah Math Contest

Rachel Budker

received prizes as a winner of the contest and for solutions of three contest problems;

Gabriel Cuzzillo

received prizes as a winner of the contest, for the most beautiful solution of a contest problem and the "earlybird award" for the first solution of a contest problem;

Amira Kipnis

received prizes as a winner of the contest and for solutions of two contest problems;

Ami Wulf

received prizes as a winner of the contest and for solution of a hard problem.

"The Distinguished Math Mentor" award went to Jessica Nack,

the 6th grade math and science teacher whose students have shown excellent participation in the contest.

The Prize Fund:

each winner received Algebra by I. Gelfand and A. Shen
(which I consider the best textbook in introductory algebra and a stand-alone masterpiece in the whole elementary math literature), and one of the following books:

Concepts of Modern Mathematics by I. Stewart,

The USSR Olympiad Problem Book: Selected Problems and Theorems of Elementary Mathematics by D.O. Shklarsky, N.D. Chentzov, I.M. Yaglom,

QED and The Character of Physical Law by R. Feynman,

The "Earlybird Award" was The Book of Numbers by J. Conway and R. Guy.
