Ravi Fernando (he/him)

Update: I have moved to UIUC. In case you are looking for information about my Math 347 course there: the syllabus is here, and you can email me (see "Contact" below) to be added to the course Canvas and Gradescope pages (in case this doesn't happen automatically).

I was a graduate student at UC Berkeley from 2014 to 2023. Before that, I was an undergrad at Stanford.

Hear how to pronounce my name.

Research

I am interested in p-adic cohomology theories for algebraic geometry in mixed characteristic and characteristic p. My current research is on the de Rham-Witt complex.

Papers:

  1. Saturated de Rham-Witt complexes with unit-root coefficients (Ph.D. thesis), 2023.
  2. Restrictions on Weil polynomials of Jacobians of hyperelliptic curves (joint with Edgar Costa, Ravi Donepudi, Valentijn Karemaker, Caleb Springer, and Mckenzie West). Published in Arithmetic geometry, number theory, and computation (Simons Symposia), 2021.
  3. On an Inequality of Dimension-like Invariants for Finite Groups (undergraduate research), 2015.

My CV is here.

PrimeGrid

Since 2019, I've served as a mathematical advisor to the distributed computing project PrimeGrid, which searches for large prime numbers of various forms. See my PrimeGrid page here.
