A First Course in Wavelets with Fourier Analysis, 2nd Edition,
by Boggess and Narcowich (** Please note the change of the required
text; you can return textbooks to the Cal Store for full refund till

A wavelet tour of signal processing, third edition, by Stephane Mallat.
Wavelets Made Easy, by Yves Nievergelt

**Syllabus:** This course will cover the basic mathematical
theory of Fourier analysis and wavelets,
including one-dimensional signal processing and multi-dimensional
image processing:

- Inner product spaces
- Fourier series
- Fourier transform: continuous and discrete, fast Fourier transform
- Haar wavelets
- Multiresolution analysis
- Daubechies wavelet
- (if time permits) transform coding, signal compression, quantization, image compression, JPEG, JPEG-2000
