We discuss in this talk convergence and compactness of sequences of embedded minimal tori in S^3 with a fixed generic metric. Part of the motivation for this study comes from the result of Pitts and Rubinstein: if there is a uniform bound for the Morse index of all such surfaces, then the spherical space form problem follows.
