Enrollments

For basic enrollment information, please visit the course page in the mathematics department website. For enrollment issues, please contact the math department undergraduate advisors:

Note: If you are on a waitlist, the only thing we can do is to wait. If you are enrolled in my class but in a discussion section inconvenient for you, you can stay registered in the inconvenient section, but attend a convenient section for all the lectures, quizzes and exams. Before doing this, email both section instructors about your situation. This will not affect your final grade if your case is clear to the section instructors.

Homework, Quizzes, Exams

There will be weekly homework sets, to be updated in the syllabus below. They will be collected in your section meetings on Tuesdays, graded by your section instructors, and returned to you in your section meetings on the next Tuesdays. The homework policy will be made by your section instructor.

There will be 3 quizzes, to be taken in your discussion section. They will be graded by your section instructor and returned to you in the discussion section. The quizzes and the quiz policy will be made by your section instructor.

There will be two midterm exams and one final exam. Exam rule: no makeup, no textbook, no calculator, but a cheat sheet (letter size, two-sided) is allowed. The midterms will be taken in two of the regular MWF classes, graded by the section instructors and me, and returned to you in your discussion section. There will be no makeup midterm. If you take exactly one midterm (and miss the other), the score of the midterm you miss will be set to be 80% of the score of the midterm you take. If you miss both midterms, both scores will be set to be 0. If you take both midterms, and the lower midterm score is less then 80% of the higher midterm score, the lower midterm score will be replaced by 80% of the higher midterm score.

Office Hours

The following are the emails and office hours of me and the section instructors:

A student is also welcome to attend office hours of section instructors who do not teach the student's discussion section.

Special Accommodations

All students requesting special accommodations need to be registered with the Disabled Student Services and need to provide a letter indicating the necessary accommodations. Because it is very difficult to arrange accommodations at the last minute, all requests must be received at least 10 days prior to the exams.
