Grading

The grading is based on the following scheme

Note:

The exam dates are NOT subject to change under any circumstances, including sickness, athletic trips and family emergencies. There are also NO makeup homework, quizzes, or exams. Instead we use the following policy

Exams

Only pens and pencils are allowed, and scratch papers will be served. No notes, books, calculators, phones, or any other electronic devices are permitted during the exams.

Homework

Homework will be assigned via WeBWorK, which can be reached via bCourses.

Usually, a set of about 10-30 problems will be assigned after each class (except the midterm dates) and you will have one week to solve each problem set. The submission deadlines will be at 5 am. For example, if a homework set is assigned on a Wednesday after class, then the due time is 5 am on Thursday of the next week.

Notice the initial assignment 0 is just for testing and will not be counted toward your grades.

Once the submission deadline has passed, the score of the problem set is determined and cannot be changed. The solutions will show up immediately.

You can try each problem as many times as you want.

Quizzes

There will be weekly quizzes in the discussion sections, on most Tuesdays (see the discussion section schedule below).
