JUNE IN BERKELEY! |
![]() |
In a three-bedroom, two-bathroom house, two blocks from Walnut Square and the Gourmet Ghetto,
close to Solano Avenue, and a short drive or bike ride to UC Berkeley campus.
Located on the first crest of the Berkeley Hills, the house is nestled in the quiet, safe neighborhood of Live Oak Park, which is composed of owner-occupied single family homes. On a fogless afternoon one can see the San Fransciso skyline and the Golden Gate Bridge from the living room and front deck. |

The house is located a short walk through Live Oak Park to the Gourmet Ghetto, home of the new Epicurious, the Cheese Board Collective (which also serves fantastic breads, both savory and sweet), César tapas bar, and of course, the world-famous Chez Panisse restaurant. Even closer in are Long's Drugs and Safeway, as well as Masses's Pastries (which rivals any Parisian patisserie), Saul's Delicatessen and the original Peet's Coffee, just to name a few. With the closure of Cody's on Telegraph, Black Oak Books is arguably Berkeley's best bookstore, and is a ten-minute walk from the house. And, even closer in yet, is a very good Japanese restaurant (Toyo), and, closest of all, you'll appreciate the ambiance and variety of Bel Forno Café, home of the best muffins you've ever tasted! Recently a Farmer's Market has started taking place just south of Live Oak Park on Thursday afternoons. UC-Berkeley is a six-minute drive away. Walking takes longer, naturally, but it's a pleasant journey on foot. |
The front deck looks west, and is the perfect place for a cookout (two grills are provided). |
The living room has two large sofas, one a sofa bed (not pictured). It also has a CD-stereo with over a hundred CDs available, an upright piano, and a filtered view of the San Francisco Bay. |
The house has hardwood floors and oriental rugs throughout. As well, the house is furnished with
a piano, a computer,
WiFi router, a fax/answering machine, and four telephones.
A broadband connection powers
both
the computer and the TV.
Both bedrooms have queen Oysterbeds. The master bedroom looks out on the quiet,
east-facing back garden, and has a brand-new color tv, with combination DVD/VCR attached.
The downstairs study has a color printer/scanner/flat-screen
photocopier as well as a fax machine on a dedicated line.
