Missing a test or midterm in case of illness

I do not reschedule tests or midterm exams. It is in your best interest to write the tests in class at the scheduled time if at all possible.

If serious illness prevents you from doing so, you must inform me by e-mail the morning of the test or evening before. My standing policy is to re-scale your grade (so that the other tests and the final are worth more, homework will still be worth 10%), but with a small penalty that your maximum final grade will be 95 rather than 100. This will very likely not affect what letter grade you get in the course, but should be enough to encourage you to write the midterm tests and exam if you are able to do so.

If you are concerned about your grade, due to extended illness or other circumstances, I encourage you to make an appointment to speak with me.
