The head TA is responsible for managing all section changes, and enrolling students on the waitlist into the course.

Lectures (MWF)

Lectures take place on Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 8:10 to 9:00 in 155 Dwinelle. In addition, there are the following discussion sections which meet on Monday, Wednesday and Friday:

Textbooks

The texts for Math 54 are Hill, Elementary Linear Algebra, and Boyce and DiPrima, Elementary Differential Equations and Boundary Value Problems, and both are in special editions created for Math 54 at Berkeley.

Homework and quizzes

Homework is assigned and is due in the discussion section each Monday. You can check your answers to odd problems at the back of the book (if you get the wrong answer, try again!) but you need to turn in solutions, not just answers. Each assignment will be given a pass/fail grade based on completeness.

Exams

Final exam: 8-11am, Friday 11 May, 07, in F 295 Haas.

Midterm exams:

Monday, 30 April.

Calculators and notes and cell phones will NOT be allowed for the exams.

Grades

Each midterm will count 100 points, and the final exam will count 200 points. The total point count is used to construct a low curve, and then data from discussion sections are used to raise the grade of some students.
