Organisers: George Melvin and Patrick Wilson
The UC Berkeley Mathematics Department's 'Geometry & Topology' Research Training Group (RTG) provides an intensive 8-week summer research program opportunity for advanced undergraduates interested in pursuing research in pure mathematics; the program is funded by the RTG's NSF grant. The program aims to provide research projects in geometry and/or topology, allowing participants to investigate open questions at the forefront of current research and gaining valuable skills in scientific communication and computation.
The 2015 program consists of two primary research groups - 'curve shortening flows', led by Patrick Wilson; 'Schubert varieties and toric degenerations', led by George Melvin. Within each research group, participants work on focused projects in groups of 2-3 people.
