We discuss how the canonical commutation relations
must be modified in order to make appropriate numerical models
of quantum systems. The C*-algebras 
associated with the discretized canonical commutation 
relations are the non-commutative
spheres of Bratteli, Elliott, Evans and Kishimoto.
