Fall 2018 Talks

Our end-of-semester talks will be on Wednesday and Friday of this week (12/5 and 12/7), from 9am to 4pm, in 748 Evans. These presentations are a great way to meet fellow DRP students and to hear about an array of fascinating projects on a variety of topics. Plus, we’ll be providing lunch both days!

For a full schedule of the talks (along with titles and abstracts), please see this page.

Info Session This Monday

We’re holding an info session/mixer this Monday evening. This will be a great opportunity to meet DRP participants, ask any questions you might have about the program, and enjoy some free food!

Anyone interested in the DRP is welcome to attend, including those who are unsure whether to apply to the program. Below is a rundown of the event.

When: Monday, August 27th, 6-7:30pm
Where: 891 Evans
What: We’ll give a short overview of the DRP, followed by Q&A. Afterwards, attendees can mingle and eat free food!

If you can’t make it to the info session, you can also email us at berkeleymathematicsdrp@gmail.com with any questions you might have!

End-of-Semester Presentations

It’s time to start thinking about end-of-semester presentations! We strongly encourage each DRP student to prepare a short talk (10-15 minutes) on the material you’ve learned this semester to give to other DRP students. Your DRP mentor will be able to help you prepare your talk, and nobody will be evaluating you on how you do, so this is meant to be a good way to get some practice presenting math in a fun and low-pressure environment!

This year, we’ll be holding the presentations on Wednesday, May 9, and Friday, May 11 from 1pm-5pm in 732 Evans and 736 Evans. We’ve sent out an email to all current DRP participants with instructions on how to sign up for a time slot to present. After everyone has signed up, we’ll send out a schedule for the talks, which will tell you what room you’ll be presenting in.

Spring 2018 Applications (and Free Food!)

In other news, we’re holding a student mixer/information session on Tuesday, January 23, at 5pm in 732 Evans. Whether you’re an experienced DRP student or you’re new to the program, this event will be a great chance to meet other DRP applicants, find out more about the DRP, and enjoy some free food!
