Fall 2020 Applications (and COVID-19 Updates)

Applications for the fall 2020 semester are now open! Please head over to this page of our website to apply. Applications will close on Wednesday, September 2nd, at 11:59pm, so please make sure to get your applications in before then!

Also, we have received some questions about whether the DRP will be running this semester, even with classes being held remotely. We do intend to continue the program as normal, but we expect that students and mentors will meet by Zoom (or some other video calling software). We believe the DRP is a helpful resource for undergraduates to get connected to upper-level mathematics and the people who study it, and this type of connection is perhaps even more important in a time where we aren’t connecting in-person within the department and in our classes.

While having our projects online may introduce extra challenges, we are committed to doing whatever we can to help all our participants have a fun and successful semester. We are currently preparing some guidelines for how to successfully do a DRP project remotely, so check back here for more details later! And if you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to email us at berkeleymathematicsdrp@gmail.com.

Spring 2020 Application Deadline Extended

Update: We’ve extended the application deadline until Wednesday, February 5, at 11:59pm. We plan to send out project pairings for the semester by Friday, February 7th. This is after the last day to drop a class without a fee, so if you have already applied and now realize your course schedule won’t give you time to commit to the DRP, please let us know by emailing us at berkeleymathematicsdrp@gmail.com. If you aren’t sure whether you’ll have time or not, please see this page of our website (specifically, the “Expectations for undergraduates” section).

We apologize for any inconvenience this change may cause. If you have any questions or concerns, please don’t hesitate to email us!

Fall 2019 Pairings Finished

Applications for the fall 2019 semester are now closed. If you applied but did not receive an email with pairing information, then unfortunately, we were unable to offer you a project this semester. We had many strong applicants and would have liked to offer a project to all of them, but we didn’t have enough mentors to do so. We encourage you to apply again next semester; once you have more classes under your belt, your application will be even stronger!

Spring 2019 Info Session

We’ll be holding an info session/mixer on Monday evening. This will be a great opportunity to meet DRP participants, ask any questions you might have about the program, and enjoy some free food!

Anyone interested in the DRP is welcome to attend, including those who are unsure whether to apply to the program. Below is a rundown of the event.

When: Monday, January 28, 5-6:30pm
Where: 891 Evans
What: We’ll give a short overview of the DRP, followed by Q&A. Afterwards, attendees can mingle and eat free food!

If you can’t make it to the info session, you can also email us at berkeleymathematicsdrp@gmail.com with any questions you might have!
