Prerequisites: Graduate status or consent of instructor.

Description: The course will survey basic theory and practical methods for solving the fundamental problems of mathematical physics. Topics covered will include Hilbert spaces, orthogonal polynomials, approximation theory, the Fourier transform, Green's functions, Sturm-Liouville theory, and operator theory, with applications to eigenfunction expansions, perturbation theory and linear and non-linear waves.
