Prerequisites: essential prerequisite linear algebra (Math 54 or Math 110 )

Syllabus:  the course will be a mathematical introduction at the undergraduate level to the Hilbert space approach to quantum mechanics.

Required Text:  the course will be based on the notes students will take in class from the lectures.

Recommended Reading:    Many of the topics covered can be found in  the book  by K. Hannabuss "An introduction to Quantum Theory" Oxford Graduate Texts in Mathematics.  Also recommended : L. D. Faddeev, O.A. Yakubovskii " Lectures on Quantum Mechanics for Mathematics Students" , Student Mathematical Library vol. 47, American Mathematical Society.

Grading:   30% Homework and discussion of problems in class

                  30% Midterm

                  40% Take-home Final Exam

Homework: weekly homework, due on Thursday of following week.
