Prerequisites: 214.

Syllabus: The first half of the semester will be spent on basic topics such as : Riemannian metric and Levi-Civita connection, geodesics and completeness, curvature and the second fundamental form.  The second half of the semester will be an introduction to comparison geometry, including such subjects as : Jacobi fields, Myers' theorem, the Cartan-Hadamard theorem and the Bishop-Gromov inequality. During RRR week, each student will give a half hour talk on a topic of their choice, related to the class material.
