Congratulations to Undergraduate Math Major Jie Geng! She has been selected to receive an Honorable Mention in the 2011 Alice T. Schafer Prize for Excellence in Mathematics competition.

Professor Svetlana Jitomirskaya, UC Irvine, will speak on "Eigenvalue statistics for matrices with dynamically defined entries" on November 10, 2010, at 127 Dwinelle Hall from 9-10 am.

Professor Yan Soibelman, Kansas State University, Manhattan, Kansas, will talk about Motivic Donaldson-Thomas invariants and wall-crossing formulas on Monday through Friday of the week of November 1.
