Elliptic Cohomology via Formal Groups.

In this topics course we'll explain one particular extra-ordinary cohomology theory, elliptic cohomology, from the purely homotopy theoretical point of view using formal group laws. This will lead us all the way to the theory of topological modular forms of Hopkins and Miller.
