Title: MIXED DISCRIMINANTS
Abstract: A system of n sparse polynomials in n unknowns typically has a finite number of complex zeros. According to Bernstein's Theorem, that number is given by the mixed volume of their Newton polytopes. The mixed discriminant is the polynomial in the coefficients of the given system which vanishes whenever two of the zeros coincide. This understandable lecture focuses on two equations in two unknowns.
