Viewing and printing files with Acrobat Reader

  • Adobe Acrobat Reader is a FREE viewer which allows you to view and print documents containing mathematical equations and graphics on almost all web browsers and computing platforms. Click on links ending in .pdf to download or view files on-line in Acrobat Reader. You will also be able to print .pdf files on any printer. Obtain Acrobat Reader here ).

  • (Note that you can obtain slightly higher quality printing with a PostScript printer by downloading the files in PostScript format.)

  • Click on links ending in .ps to download files in PostScript format.

    UNIX:

    Download the PostScript file to disk, then send to any PostScript printer. (Within Applied Math, clicking on the link will bring up the notes in GhostView, from which users can select "Print".)

    Macintosh:

    Download the PostScript file to disk. Open LaserWriter Utility and under the "Utilities" menu, choose Download PostScript File, then select the file you saved to disk. Choose "Save" in the dialog box and the file will be sent to your PostScript printer.

    (Note: Under "Helper Applications" in your WWW browser preferences, set your configurations so that PostScript and Encapsulated PostScript file types are saved to disk, with their type and creator codes set to "TEXT" and "????", respectively. The LaserWriter Utility can be found on your Mac OS System Install disks under "Printing".)

    DOS & Windows:

    Download the PostScript file to disk. Obtain a DOS prompt and send the PostScript file to any PostScript printer. You may have to issue a "copy" command and copy the file to the printer, e.g.
    "c:\copy notes.ps lpt1".

    You can also use GSView to display or print PostScript files under Windows. Click the link above to download the zip file to your PC. Double-click on the file to install it.
