Calculus 1B is the second course in the calculus sequence. Topics include advanced techniques of integration, study of infinite series and approximation of functions by power series, and introductary differential equations.
Grading Scale Quizzes: 25% (12 total, but lowest 2 dropped)
Midterm 1:(in lecture, Monday September 26) 20%
Midterm 2:(in lecture, Monday Halloween) 20%
Final:(Tuesday, December 13) 35%
Homework: Homework will be collected at the beginning of class Thursday. Assignments can be found on the course web page (see link above). I will look over a couple of problems on each assignment, but no grade will be assigned.
Quizzes: Quizzes will take place during the last 25 minutes of class on Thursday in nonmidterm weeks, and will normally consist of 3 problems worth 10 points total (two easier problems worth 3 points each, and a more difficult 4 point problem). You cannot make up missed quizzes, but the lowest two quizzes will be dropped. Old quizzes and solutions can be found in the table below.
