A concise outline of the current state of turbulence research will be presented in the beginning of the lecture. In the basic part of the lecture the results of the investigations of mathematical models of shear flows (flows in pipes,channels ,boundary layers) at very large Reynolds numbers obtained in recent years by our group (A.J.Chorin, V.M.Prostokishin and the speaker) will be presented and discussed.
