MIDTERM
1: - Midterm 1 rescheduled for Friday, Feb. 16th in
section.
The exam is 50 minutes.
- You will be taking a shortened version of
the original exam.

If you cannot make your own section, you are free to
go to any other section, provided there is room.

If you cannot make any Friday section, there will be a
makeup session Tuesday evening. The makeup exam is 5-6
pm in
10 Evans hall.

If you need to take the midterm in another section or
the makeup midterm on Tuesday, please let
your GSI know and let the professor know. This is to help us keep track of your exams.

We have heard several concerns in regards to the
possibility of cheating. To address this, the exams will be different, to the extent
that they can be comparable. You will be asked to turn in the sheets of notes
that you are allowed to bring with you. Please also make sure to make your
reasoning clear.
Finally, remember that discussing the midterm with
students who have not yet taken the exam can only hurt you. Mind the Student
Code of Conduct!

Midterm 1 weight: - The weight of midterm 1 is
decreased to 15% (down from 20%). The weight of homework is increased to 15 % (up
from 10%). In addition to this, your grade for midterm 1 will be taken to be
the BEST of your grades for the 3 exams. For example, if you score 60% on
the midterm 1 (24 points out of the maximum 40), but your best exam score is
80% (say, on the final), your grade on midterm 1 will become 80% or 32 points
out of 40. If you do not do better on the following exams, your grade on
midterm 1 will stay unchanged.
