[5/1/07] - The final exam is on Wed., May 16 from 5-8pm in 3111 Etcheverry.

[4/10/07] - There were some typos in the solution to #1 from HW15 which were posted yesterday. They have now been fixed.

[3/6/07] - I will be out of town from 3/13-3/19. J. Marzuola will be covering the lectures. My office hours on 3/14 and 3/19 are cancelled. I am happy to meet with you after my return (on 3/20 or 3/21) if you need any assistance with test preparation.

[1/24/07] - A few announcements:

There was a small typo on HW2 which has now been fixed. In problem 1, just cross out the quad (it is a LaTex command where I forgot the \).
I will be away next Monday-Wednesday (1/29-1/31). The lecture will be given by Jeremy Marzuola. My office hours are cancelled. I will be in my office almost all day on Thursday and Friday (1/25-1/26). Just email me (or you can take your chances and just swing by) if you need any assistance before I leave...
As many of you have noticed, I'm doing a lot of supplementing to the text. Basically everything that I am doing in lecture is in there, but I'm trying to supplement with lots of extra examples and by providing more detail on some of the steps. As was requested, I have put some other texts on reserve at the library (well, I put the request in yesterday... it will probably take a few days before it is ready). The texts are:

Boundary value problems and partial differential equations. David L. Powers. (5th ed.)
Fourier series and boundary value problems. James Ward Brown and Ruel V. Churchill. (5th ed.)
Elementary differential equations and boundary value problems. William E. Boyce and Richard C. DiPrima (8th ed.) [A lot of ODE books, like this one, cover the material from the beginning of this course. This just happens to be one that I am familiar with.]
