There seems to be confusion on how the final letter grade is
determined. We calculate a straight percentage for each student.
This is 35% times (final exam score)/150, plus 15% times first
midterm percent, etc. Then the professor uses some cutoffs to
determine letter grades. I'm not sure how he decides cutoffs. I
suspect they're related to his cutoffs for the three exams.
There is no predetermined letter grade distribution for the class.
The "curve" is the fact we don't use 90%=A-, 80%=B-, etc, but it
really is a misnomer.

Practice exam on Friday Dec 10 6:30-8:30 in Wheeler 213, for my
sections and Adam
Booth's sections. Here are the electronic verions of the
practice exam (pdf,
postscript) and the solutions
(pdf, postscript).
Adam and I still have some hard copies.

Remaining office hours for the semester (all in 1045 Evans):
Friday Dec 10, 10-11; Monday Dec 13 most of the day (end at about 6
actually, because Evans closes -- can still send me email);
appointment. Please come by and pick up any remaining homeworks
and quizzes.
-
All grades except the final exam have been entered into the
online gradebook. Please check if there are any errors. As far
as I can tell from the gradebook, A = 92+, A- = 85+, B+ = 80+.
These might not be the cutoffs for the final letter grades.
- (As of Sunday Dec 12, 4:31 pm) Not all the scores on the online
gradebook have been "released" yet. So you will not see your scores for
HW 11-15 and quizzes 9-12, but I did enter them, and they will appear
eventually. Currently the gradebook is calculating a percentage based on
your best 8 homeworks and best 6 quizzes, but this is temporary.
- (As of Monday Dec 13) All scores (except for the final, obviously)
have been released.
-
Quizzes given in section: 1B, 2B, 3A, 4A, 5A, 6A, 7A, 8B, 9A,
10A, 11B, 12B. Feel free to try the other version for practice.

Need help? Here's a list of math graduate students who can serve as
tutors.
Note: This is not a free service. You will have to negotiate payment with
your tutor.
Another good resource is the Student Learning Center.
Prof. Haiman's class is piloting a new system for recording grades online.
You can log in and check your grades here.
