Math 16A Spring 2011
Welcome to Math 16A discussion sections 104 (Tues 9:40–11:00 in 3105 Etcheverry) and 116 (Tues 3:40–5:00 in 3102 Etcheverry)!
My office hours are on Mondays at 4:40–5:30 and Tuesdays at 5:10–6:00 in my office, 1039 Evans.
Section info
Discussion section counts for 15% of your grade (5% homework and 10% quizzes). In class we will go over questions you had on the homework assignment or the lecture material, do group work activities, and take the occasional quiz.
Feel free to send me questions (on homework, the course, etc.) by email (address below). However,
"Face time" is a much more productive way for you to learn and for me to teach, so if you have a math question I urge you to bring it up in section or office hours instead, if possible.
My responses may arrive more slowly after 10 PM and on weekends.
Quizzes will occur approximately once every two weeks. Problems on quizzes will be "suspiciously similar" to problems you have seen in the homework assignments (including ones from earlier in the term), which is precisely why you should do the homework and review old assignments and quizzes to prepare. :)
Late homework and make-up quizzes are strongly discouraged. Please contact me ASAP if you have a reasonable justification for missing section and we will attempt to make alternate accommodations.
Homework
Homework assignments are posted on bSpace. Your assignments are due weekly in section.
Quizzes
Quizzes and their solutions will be posted here. Reviewing old quizzes is an A+ way to prepare for exams!
Antidifferentiation drill (4/19), solutions.
