My Office , 1085 Evans. (It actually now has three more SRK posters, plus a few Amitabhs and a Rajni.)
In June 2006 I was in
India where Nick Proudfoot and I appeared
on the soap opera Kasauti Zindagi Kay
(final five minutes).
I spent July and August 2006 in Shanghai as the math tutor for the
Research Science Institute-Fudan, which frequently required me to dress
formally .
I spent Summer 2007 in Lucknow studying Urdu at AIIS. But I've so far
been too lazy to upload any photos besides this photo
of a truck not quite falling off the Ashok Marg bridge. I was again
in India (mainly Lucknow and Mumbai) for the second half of 2008, and now
(Spring 2009) I'm living in some superposition of Oakland/Berkeley and
OC/LA.

A lot of what I read doesn't actually end up in the
above lists since I'm disorganized, but the film lists are pretty
complete.
A poorly formatted list of my favorite
filmmakers.
I'm on the

(Now with a non-broken link!)
I go to Berkeley. I used to go to Harvard , which "has ruined more negroes than bad whiskey."
[ETA 4/11/09: I previously attributed this remark to Cornel West, who I heard say it on Tavis Smiley's show. But in googling it much later, I found it most frequently attributed to Adam Clayton Powell, as well as at least two other eminent personalities. I lack the interest at this juncture to investigate its provenance.]
While at Harvard, I served a term as mayor of Cambridge.
My qualifying exam syllabus. An account of my qual .
Ages ago I did an REU in complex dynamics under John Hubbard, and we produced this program to compute matings of pairs of complex polynomials. It makes nice pictures of the matings.
The title of this page comes from my main man, "Free Yard Tips".

Mathematisches Forschungsinstitut Oberwolfach

November 2003 seminar "Floer Homology for
Three-Manifolds Y" at Banff International Research Station
. (The "Y" disappeared eventually, but it was part of the official
title for several months.)

The greatest rap song ever. UPDATE: It seems Cornel West has shuttered his website. The world is poorer.
Not all courtroom scenes in South Asian movies suck: Naseeruddin Shah's speech from Khuda Kay Liye.
The lexicon page of Harvard College Bowl, which is not linked from the team's current (and useless) page. [update--this seems to be broken too. fuck.]
I apparently look(ed?) like "Retarded Hippie Louis XIV"
Old lecture notes of Givental , made available for Math 277, "Gromov-Witten Theory, On Her Knees?" Spring 2003.

These disc quota commands show you the big files on a unix system, such as those on a certain Evans Hall-based network with a comically small quota.
