Contact Information

My name is Edward Carter, and my main web page is at http://math.berkeley.edu/~ecarter/.

You can email me at ecarter@math.berkeley.edu. You can also come to my office, 812 Evans Hall. I have a mailbox on the ninth floor of Evans Hall as well. However, if you leave something for me there (such as your homework), please tell me, because I don't always check it very often.

Grading

Your section grade is determined by two things: homework and quizzes. Quizzes will be given each Wednesday, usually towards the end of class. There will be no makeup quizzes, but your two lowest quiz scores will be dropped. Homework will be assigned in lecture. Homework assigned in lecture on Monday is due Friday; homework assigned Wednesday is due the following Monday; and homework assigned Friday is due the following Wednesday. Late homework will be accepted one class meeting after it is due only, and at a significant penalty. For each homework assignment, I will select a few problems at random to look at closely. Each assignment will be graded on a pass/fail basis. Anyone who makes a reasonable attempt to do the homework and hand it in on time should expect to get full credit.

There will be no quizzes on midterm weeks.

You can see how your section grade relates to your overall course grade on Professor Zworski's course page.
