Research and Related Things:
The Chern-Gauss-Bonnet-Theorem Via Supersymmetric Field Theories (draft).
Witten in the 80s Seminar, Fall 2011, joint with Theo Johnson-Freyd on a selection of Witten's papers on supersymmetric field theories.
Conformal Field Theory Seminar, Spring 2011, joint with Peter Teichner and Dmitri Pavlov on Graeme Segal's notes, vertex algebras, and a smattering of other things "conformal."
Witten Genus Seminar, Fall 2010, on Kevin Costello's construction of the Witten genus, at the Max Planck Institute for Mathematics in Bonn, Germany.
Physics for Topologists Seminar, Spring 2010, joint with Peter Teichner. The focus turned out to be classical field theory, with lots of examples. Dmitri Pavlov took some notes from the talks.
Some notes I helped write from the Talbot 2010 workshop talks on twisted K-theory and loop groups.
Evidence of my former life as an astrophysicist, and (what feels like) some truly ancient history.
Teaching:
An amazing essay by Paul Lockhart about some of the problems with how mathematics is taught these days. Highly recommended for both students and teachers of math.
