You can buy the book at the student book store. In addition we will be using 1B worksheets. These can be bought at Copy Central, 2560 Bancroft. The grade will be computed from first midterm (10%), second midterm (10%), quizzes (10%), homework (10%), oral examination (10%), final (50%). If you miss the first or the second midterm, the final will count that much more. The homework is due at the first discussion section one day after the lecture. Thus the homework from 7.1 is due Friday January 19. Late homeworks will not be accepted. The 4 lowest homework scores will be deleted. Since the department does not have funds for grading homework, your score will be based more on effort than correctness. I encourage you to work together with other students, but the work you hand in should be in your own handwriting and not copied from somebody else. Quizzes will be given in discussion sections on Fridays. There will be no make up quizzes. The 2 lowest quiz scores will be deleted.
