The ability to analyze a blizzard of numbers is critical in many fields. But the strain of manipulating so many data points is wearing out even today’s fastest supercomputers. Berkeley professor of mathematics Olga Holtz is developing better ways for computers to juggle massive amounts of data, striking a balance between speed and precision.
