An affiliated interdisciplinary group, with its own doctoral program, is the Group in Logic and the Methodology of Science. Within the department, the Research Training Group in Representation Theory, Geometry and Combinatorics provides some fellowship support for graduate students working in its areas of interest. Students can also participate in the designated emphasis in computational biology. UC Berkeley has created a new graduate program in Computational Science and Engineering (CSE).
