Printing From Your Laptop Over AirBears
It is possible to print to the math department printers from your laptop while connected to AirBears.
Mac OS X 10.5
The following printers are available for your use:
- 744 Evans: HP LaserJet P4515 (printer queue 744)
- 838 Evans: HP LaserJet P4515 (printer queue 838)
- 958 Evans: Canon ImageRunner 7095 (printer queue 958_large)
- 958 Evans: Canon ImageRunner 6570 (printer queue 958_small)
- 1002 Evans: HP LaserJet 5200 (printer queue 1002)
The following screenshots will guide you through adding the printer in 958 Evans to a computer running Mac OS X 10.5. To add a different printer, change '958' to the appropriate printer queue and select the appropriate printer driver from the list above.
Begin by installing the necessary PostScript Printer Description (PPD) file if linked above.
Go to System Preferences -> Print & Fax. Click the "+" icon to add a printer.
Ensure that the "IP" tab is selected. Choose:
- Protocol: Internet Printing Protocol - IPP
- Address: printserver.math.berkeley.edu
- Queue: printers/958
- Print Using: "Select a driver to use..." then Canon iR9070
To print double sided, be sure to select the "Two-Sided" option when you print.
Linux
If your system uses cups (as most distributions do these days) you can very easily add all the Math department printers by adding the following lines to your cupsd.conf file, usually located at /etc/cups/cupsd.conf. You can edit this file using a command such as "sudo gedit /etc/cups/cupsd.conf".
Browsing On
BrowseProtocols cups
BrowseAllow printserver.math.berkeley.edu
BrowsePoll printserver.math.berkeley.edu
Then restart cups using the command "sudo service cups restart" and you should be good to go
